Updated: Corey Haim of the A&E reality TV series "The Two Coreys" (costarring with good friend & fellow actor, Corey Feldman) has passed away at the age of 38, due to a suspected accidental drug overdose. The LAPD confirmed to KTLA News that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said an autopsy will be done confirming the official cause of death. The actor was found unresponsive at an apartment in the Oakwood Apartment Complex and was at home with his mother at the time. Apparently, the actor had been suffering from flu-like symptoms, and had been taking some kind of over-the-counter medication(s); four unrelated prescription pill bottles were also found. Update: 03/14/2010 - Apparently, Investigators found an "unauthorized" prescription in Corey Haim's name which was linked to an "illegal and massive prescription-drug ring," according to the California Attorney General's Office, People reports. "We know there was a prescription pad stolen and there was a prescription written for him using that pad, so it was fraudulent and we know it was filled," according to AG spokeswoman Christine Gasparac.
What is not known is whether any of the prescription drug bottles found at the scene were obtained through this alleged drug ring and if Corey was aware of the scam.

03/10/2010 12:36 - Corey Feldman statement: I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived.
