Woodstock 40 in Second Life®
Woodstock 40 continues today in Second Life® at REVA Blue Nile. Founder, Aristippus Larsson, has re-created the original Woodstock site in Bethel, New York. The music is a stream of the actual performance recordings from the famous 1969 Woodstock festival, including all of the announcers between performers. You get a real sense of being there with the high quality stream, the avatar actors representing the performers onstage, and the environment which even includes the rain.
Last night was the opening of Woodstock 40 and featured the 1969 performances of Richie Haven, Sweetwater, Bert Sommer, Tim Hardin, Ravi Shankar, Melanie, Arlo Guthrie, and Joan Baez. A great crowd, many dressed in 1960's garb, showed up to soak up the experience. It ran very smoothly and the avatar actors re-creating the performances added a nice touch. The crowd was left looking forward to today's line-up.
There is a full day of entertainment on tap today. Some of the original line-up is not available in recording in any way and some are filled in with studio recordings, but the order has been preserved. Music begins at 1:00pm Pacific Time and performances can be heard from Quill, Keef Hartley Band, Santana, Canned Heat, Grateful Dead, Mountain, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, and The Who.
Proceeds from the event are being donated the real world homeless shelter, Bread and Jams, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
