Fireworks, BBQs, and parties celebrating Independence Day were not confined to the physical world. Events and great music were abundant across the Second Life® grid.
Key West Resort and Marina
Beach parties were popular and Key West Resort and Marina threw a fantastic one. There was a huge turnout to the beach stage. DJ Moonmaiden Horner got things rolling with a two hour set of summer songs. Jen "The Dealer" Noel took over the stream for the last two hours with beach music and rock. The crowd was treated to two fireworks displays.
Club Neptune
Club Neptune came up for air for the holiday, moving the party from underwater to a floating party deck. The party continued all afternoon, culminating in a performance by JazzMan Correia that thrilled everyone. He performed The Star Spangled Banner a capela, starting the stream before he arrived at the venue. He performed for more than an hour and finished amid Neptune's fireworks.
The Majestic/Blues Heaven Beach
Tone Uriza (Tone Uribe) streamed his band, Tony and the Torpedoes, from a live performance Tucson, Arizona, into two venues in Second Life. They started the show at the beautiful Majestic, a ballroom in the San Diego City sim and then moved the party to the great beach stage at Blues Heaven, Tone's own club. Speelo Snook, well known Second Life® DJ, is the drummer for The Torpedoes. Tone has streamed many of these mixed reality events with the audience at the live performance being able to see into the Second Life® world and the virtual audience viewing the event through a live video feed.
