Burning Life is open! Second Life's version of Nevada's Burning Man will be open through October 25. It is vast, consisting of 34 regions with builds of all types. Start visiting now to have any hope of seeing most of it.

Events will be held in a variety of locations every day, including at the Tokyo Stage, pictured here. You can get a complete list of events at burninglife.secondlife.com/eventsbrowse. You can view a map at burninglife.secondlife.com/clickmap that Second Life members can click to teleport to any Burning Life location.

The vast majority of what you'll see in Burning Life was built by Second Life residents, not by Linden Lab. Many are extraordinarily imaginative and are the result of long, hard work.

For those don't know, Burning Life is based heavily on Burning Man. The basis are the Ten Principles of both Burning Man and Burning Life. These include principles that include:

• Radical Inclusion: Anyone may be a part of Burning Man.
• Gifting: Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving.
• Radical Self-reliance: Burning Man encourages the individual to discover, exercise and rely on his or her inner resources.
• Communal Effort: Creative cooperation and collaboration.
• Leaving No Trace: Leave nothing behind

You can read the complete Ten Principles at www.burningman.com/whatisburningman/about_burningman/principles.html. These are at the heart of Burning Man. It's not just an exhibit. It's a community, a civil society of creative, imaginative people coming together in the desert and then, when it's over, leaving nothing behind. The basic spirit is of giving, sharing, and mutual responsibility. You will enjoy it most and get the most out of it if you approach it with this spirit.
