Scuba Divers needed for Annual Underwater Park Cleanup at Lake Pleasant

Certified divers are needed to help recover underwater marine debris. from one of the most popular water recreation areas in the Valley of the Sun -- Lake Pleasant. The annual park cleanup is held in conjunction with Project A.W.A.R.E. Dive For Earth and the Ocean Conservancy International Coastal Cleanup.

Data collected from the cleanup is included in the international report generated by both organizations each year. The park will supply trash bags and drinking water. This is a great way for organizations, supervised youth groups, families and individuals to be productive community citizens. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers will meet at the east parking lot of the 10-lane boat ramp inside the main entrance to the park to pick up their area assignment.

Arizona Scuba will be participating in the Lake Pleasant clean up on September 19, 2009.
Arizona Scuba has 13 slots and is offering 'double up' at the entry gate, the park information is listed below. There are a few prizes and hand outs for people coming out to help clean up our playground.  Something special for the biggest pile, most unique and the ugliest items found.  Arizona Scuba has cleanup kits and surveys with recyclable cleanup bags in addition to the park..

"I think we could make a difference participating in the lake clean up", said Ronnie Simmons of Arizona Scuba,. "It is "OUR" play ground and it is up to us to help keep it safe and clean so we all can enjoy the benefits the lake provides. Also by us showing an interest in the lake's well being it lets the park administration know that we as a group care about the underwater environment and could lead to our small voice being heard concerning issues that are important to us." Simmons continued.
