This shop is a gift that keeps on giving. In this struggling economy, we crafters are sticking together, for dear life, in order to preserve our ability to express our creativity in as many ways as possible. For this reason, and many others, the small but powerful scrapbook, rubber stamp and yarn seller in Oceanside called Jazi Crafts keeps its doors wide open for all of us!
The store opened in October 2005 by three talented women who felt the opportunity to do so was a gift. That’s why the shop is called Jazi (Swahili for “gift”) Crafts. Their loyal customers know that the “s” at the end of Craft means the shop carries a wide range of supplies, classes and ideas for a variety of creative arts – from scrapbooking, rubber stamping, knitting, crocheting, jewelry making to any possible combination or hybridization of these activities a person might dream up.
Jazi Crafts carries hundreds and hundreds of stamps – rubber, clear, mounted, unmounted – in every imaginable theme and from dozens of designers. The inks, powders, glitters, adhesives, ribbons, etc. that make projects come alive are available as well. It would be a rare thing, but if there was an item a customer wanted/needed, owner Michelle Jackson loves the challenge of finding and procuring it; special orders are her forte! So, obviously, customer service is outstanding at this shop, as determined by personal experience, fellow customer comments and a large and loyal customer base.
Supplies are plentiful, but using them is the real fun. Jazi Crafts offers lots of events that combine creativity and charity, including their sponsorship of Scare Away Autism on April 17, with Scrapbook Royalty and Donna Salazar. There are plans for an upcoming fundraiser to benefit the San Diego SPCA later this summer. Jazi Crafts hosts an Artists’ Retreat in the fall of each year, and the very popular Stamp Camp in the spring. This year’s Stamp Camp is scheduled for May 15, and its celebratory theme is the Birthday Party. Participants will be treated to an all-day event that begins with breakfast, then several classes and demonstrations. The hostesses lay out a Jazi lunch and lots of favors, a goody bag, door prizes, contests and so much more. What better way to brighten your May? Space is limited and the cost for this entire day of fun is only $99, so make sure you reserve your spot right away. Customers are special and Jazi Crafts treats them so with their VIP Club, so check out the details on becoming a VIP. And, look for an event in the making to hit the calendar soon that encompasses the phrase “Our Cups Runneth Over”…
As if the events weren’t enough to keep this shop hoppin’, the array of classes available is phenomenal. Jazi Crafts is home to several outstanding instructors who provide a variety of classes sure to entice all sorts of crafters – from beginners to professionals who consider themselves scrapbookers, paper crafters, yarn crafters or jewelry makers. Upcoming classes include making all sorts of unique greeting cards, using Copic markers, crocheting amigurumi animals (you must check this out because they are SO adorable), and an Organic Charmer album sure to appeal to animal and people lovers alike.
Don’t miss out on all the activity that’s buzzing around this hive of creativity in Oceanside! Their outstanding selection of supplies and craft items, the huge variety of classes taught by experienced and enthusiastic instructors and the breath-of-fresh-air customer service makes becoming a loyal customer of Jazi Crafts an easy thing to do. So, get out there and become one! You’ll be glad you did.
