Photo journaling for scaredycats

Quite often family stories are lost over the years. Every word you write contributes to the preservation of your family’s story. When we combine our stories with our photos in our scrapbooks, we call that photo journaling.

Journaling about your photos doesn’t need to be as frightening as a tenth grade composition assignment. Everyone enjoys showing off their photos and telling the stories of what is going on in the photos. Writing in your scrapbook should be just like that – a conversation with a friend looking at your photos.

Here’s a quick exercise to get you started:

1. Get out paper and pen and take a look at your photo.

2. Write a list of several words or short phrases that tell what is happening in the photo. Remember the classic “who, what, where, when”.

3. Combine those words or phrases into a sentence or two.

Voila! You can write your list onto your scrapbook page, or write your couple of sentences on the page.

Congratulations! You're on your way to creating a valuable family treasure.
