'ObamaCare is all about rationing' and tax increases, Obama adviser says

ObamaCare is all about rationing,” says one of Obama’s own advisers, Martin Feldstein. Feldstein earlier noted that Obama’s health-care plan would harm people with insurance, and massively raise taxes.

Civil-libertarian and former ACLU board member Nat Hentoff says that after reading Obama’s health-care plan, he was more scared of the Obama Administration than any other Administration he’s lived under. (In 1995, Hentoff received the National Press Foundation’s Award for lifetime distinguished contributions to journalism).

Legal experts and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights have questioned the constitutionality of major provisions of ObamaCare.

Fact-checkers say Obama is lying about health-care. The Washington Post recently debunked his claim that you can keep your doctor and health-care plan if you want to under ObamaCare.

Feldstein, a Harvard professor, warns that “For the 85 percent of Americans who already have health insurance, the Obama health plan is bad news. It means higher taxes, less health care and no protection if they lose their current insurance because of unemployment or early retirement.” Obama’s plan would “cost more than $1 trillion,” and raise the top federal “income-tax rate from 35 percent today to more than 45 percent,” he notes.

Obama is ignoring lessons from overseas on how to make health care cheaper.

As CNN earlier noted, Obama’s plan would take away “5 freedoms,” including the freedom to choose your doctors, the freedom to choose what’s in your plan, the freedom to keep your existing plan, the freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, and the freedom to choose high-deductible coverage.

Earlier, we described how Obama’s health-care plan would destroy many affordable health-care plans, raise taxes on the middle class, and break Obama’s campaign promises, as well as his recent pledge that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to rush the health-care bill through Congress before most people can even figure out what’s in the bill. That’s how she pushed through Congress the $800 billion stimulus package, which contained hidden provisions that ended welfare reform, and which is now projected to cut the size of the economy “in the long run.” (The stimulus package was supposed to deliver a short-run “jolt” that would quickly lift the economy, but unemployment rose rapidly after its passage, and the package has actually destroyed thousands of jobs in America’s export sector, as well as subsidizing welfare and waste.)

Obama’s planned tax-increases on some health-insurance plans, and abandonment of his campaign pledges about health-care, are part of a long line of broken promises by Obama, such as his pledge to enact a “net spending cut,” which he broke in a big way with proposed budgets that will explode the national debt through $9.3 trillion in massively increased deficit spending.

Health-care experts and others say that Obama’s top health care adviser and his first nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services have advocated denying medical care to certain elderly and disabled people

Well why not another conservative liar? the writer here claims Feldstein is an "Obama advisor". The Wall Street Journal, who this moron cites as his source calls Feldstein a former President REAGAN advisor. But hey, when you can argue youre way out of the open end of a paper bag you do what conservatives always do -- you lie.

Professor Feldstein is on President Obama's economic advisory board, according to the second link in the above story. See "Obama Economic Adviser Warns Spending Could Create Double Digit Inflation," Business and Media Institute, April 22, 2009 (quoting Feldstein and describing his advisory role to the President).

He also served as an advisor to President Reagan in the 1980s.

Feldstein must be giving Obama fits by telling the inconvenient truth.

Back in the 1980s, Feldstein told the inconvenient truth about how Reagan's policies would produce big deficits. Reagan must have regretted letting Feldstein serve as his advisor.

Yet Obama, who is probably too young to remember that, foolishly chose Feldstein as his adviser, despite Feldstein's reputation for telling the unvarnished truth (perhaps because Feldstein took some liberal positions in recent years like backing certain kinds of federal spending to try to revive the economy).

Now it's coming back to bite him. Feldstein refuses to sugarcoat the truth about the consequences of Obama's policies.

Liberty Belle: Please improve your reading cognition before spouting off an error-filled emotional tirade (which is what liberals do). The source he cites for Feldstein being an Obama adviser is the second link, to businessandmedia.org, not the WSJ link. Also note that it is possible to be an adviser for more than one president! Yes, amazing, isn't it? Additionally, even a child with some knowledge of web search engines (that is, google, to you) can do a search for "Martin Feldstein Obama adviser" and reach a link to a NY Times article stating exactly what the writer of this article states: Feldstein is an Obama adviser. Go back to commenting on liberal sites where your ignorance is mistaken for brilliance.

Obama is a liar. He promised not to raise and sort of taxes on individuals who make less than $200k, but he raised taxes by 62 cents per pack on cigarettes. And most smokers make less than $200k. I'm certain that Obama will raise cigarette and alcohol taxes in order to pay for his healthcare plan. The man is such a liar and a fake. He's a disgrace to our country and I can hardly wait to see him leave office. Don't believe a word he says, and the same is true for the Dem leaders in Congress.

FACT: Obama promised not to raise taxes of ANY kind on any family that makes less than $250k. But two weeks after his inauguration he raised taxes by 62 cents a pack on the nation’s 43 million smokers.

To see the proof, go to Google and type “obama dover sep” and you’ll see a YouTube video of Obama making this no-tax pledge while speaking in Dover, NH on Sep 12th. Obama is a liar and he keeps on lying. ALL of his plans for healthcare, cap-and-trade, and everything else will significantly increase our taxes and costs for all sorts of goods and services. Just say “NO” to Obama’s socialist agenda.

Everyone is commenting about government involvement in health care as if there is some right to health care. Which is just a symptom of a far greater problem....moving away from the constitution. Please identify where in the constitution is the authority for the central government to be involved in health care. There are 17 clearly delineated functions that the states charged the central government; health care is not one of them.
