According to the Toronto Star, everybody's favorite cartoon sci-fi show, Futurama, is getting to keep it's original voices.
It's been a couple of rough weeks, not
knowing what was going to happen. The problem had risen when, after the show got picked up for 26 episode by Comedy Central, budget cuts lowered the actors salaries, who then refused to come back with a decrease in their pay. Fox, who still owns all the rights to Futurama, had been threatening to replace the actors to the point where they actually put out casting calls. Thankfully, they worked out a deal last week and now, we can all relax.
"We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back. The call has already `gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters," Futurama creators Groening and David X. Cohen said in a joint statement." [Toronto Star]
This kind of trouble isn't really a surprise, and will probably happen more than just this time. After all, the show has been off the air (except for four feature-length movies that were released on DVD and later broken into episodes) for a whopping seven years. Starting up as though they never stopped is a lot to ask for.
But it's all ok! We will have Futurama back with all the original voices and hilarity and such sometime in the fall, hopefully.
