The little wooden boy who wanted to become a real boy, has given up that dream and taken up a new cause—to become a vampire slayer! It's no doubt that vampires are hot right now. The success of Twilight has brought on numerous copy-cats on TV and in the movies. It seems everyone wants to get in the game, and Gepetto's little boy is no different.

Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer is a new comic book from indi-comic publisher Slave Labor. The comic blends horror with a touch of black humor. It seems that the little Italian village of Nasolungo has become overrun by vampires who are bleeding the town dry. When Pinocchio's father Gepetto is murder by one of the blood-sucking ghouls, Pinocchio makes it his duty to rid the town of vampires for good and take revenge for Gepetto's murder. Armed with an endless supply of wooden stakes (derived by lying and making his nose grow), Pinocchio goes on a shanking spree.

In the original Pinocchio stories by Carlo Collodi, the wooden hero had to confront death, magic, ghosts, talking insects and other supernatural things, so why not vampires— seems logical. The comic promises not to be too heavy handed and uses a lot of in-jokes and dark humor to play against the dark themes.

This is not your grandfather's Pinocchio. So if you're into puppets killing vampires, Pinnochio: Vampire Slayer is for you. If not there's always Walt Disney's classic animated version. Here's wishing on a star.
