James Cameron's 3-D sci-fi epic Avatar hasn't even come out yet, and already there's news he's developing another sci-fi epic, one based on a script by Shane Salerno (Armageddon).
That, anyway, is the news from Production Weekly, which tweeted it:
James Cameron is developing a Shane Salerno-scripted sci-fi action script for Fox, described as an "event" film set in the future.
The publication doesn't name the movie, but the buzz is that it's Doomsday Protocol, which was reported last September. Here's how The Hollywood Reporter characterized it:
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it is known to be an epic science fiction adventure in the vein of "The Seven Samurai" involving a group of aliens and humans with various abilities who are brought together to save Earth.
It's unclear what role Cameron would play: producer, director of both.
