Be Bully Free symbol created with Powerpoint
Are you bullying yourself? Skits 17-24 for your class to act out. This is the final set of skits for this topic.
Did you know you can be a bully to yourself? This is illustrated in the role-play called “Squirrel rejects his bushy tail.”
Read the role-play at this link – “Be Bully Free role-play: Squirrel rejects his bushy tail”
See if it reminds you of any time when you might have rejected or put down any part of your body or your life.
When I shared this story with middle school students several years back, they shared the following reactions.
You may wish to involve your students in acting these scenarios out in skit form or getting them to share some reactions of their own.
Skit Idea #17 – From an eighth-grade girl
"When I was in sixth grade, I had an eating disorder, because everyone around me was real skinny, and I wasn't as little as them. So every now and then, I would get weak and dizzy. So this slowed me down from doing what I wanted.”
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who you envy for being skinnier than you.
Skit Idea #18 – From an eighth-grade boy
"My body weight slows me down when I run. Everyone makes fun of me.”
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who are making fun of you.
Skit Idea #19 – From an eighth-grade girl
"People are not happy with their weight, looks, or personality. People make fun of you, and it brings you down.”
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who are trying to make fun of you.
Skit Idea #20 – From a seventh-grade girl
"There is this boy who wasn't happy with his height and he is in the fifth grade. His mother and father are tall and everybody makes fun of him. But he will get taller. All you got to do is look at his mother and father.”
Imagine that you are this fifth grade boy being made fun of by another kid.
Skit Idea #21 – From a seventh-grade girl and boy
The girl said, "It was about two years ago and I did not like to wear glasses, 'cause people made fun of me. I got used to them, but I got contacts anyway."
The boy said, "I don't like my glasses, but without them, I couldn't see very well."
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who have just finished making fun of your glasses.
Skit Idea #22 – From a seventh-grade boy
"I don't like my hair because it gets oily. I can't comb it. It feels horrible.”
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who have just finished making fun of you for having oily hair.
Skit Idea #23 – From an eighth-grade girl
"It makes me think of the time I didn't like my face and wanted to cover it up.”
Imagine that you are talking to one of those people who have just finished putting you down for your looks.
Skit Idea #24 – From an eighth-grade girl
"This makes me think of my school work. Whatever I do, I'm still behind everyone else.”
Imagine that you are talking to a teacher or a parent.
