Palin persecuted for hospital fundraiser

Following in the footsteps of Bill Clinton, George H. Bush and former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is headed to Steeltown on April 15 for a hospital fundraiser.

Palin will speak at the fundraising event in Hamilton, Ontario on April 15, 2010 to raise money for St. Peter’s Hospital and the Juravinski Cancer Centre. The event is months away, but as in regular Palin fashion, the fundraiser is already raising eyebrows.

Left-wing writers are attempting to use the fundraiser to show that Palin is a hypocrite.

ThinkProgress reports, "Palin might be surprised to learn that the hospital she is fundraising for runs counter to her professed beliefs." They go on to point out that St. Peter's Hospital is public, performs abortions, and offers end-of-life decision support.

As Brian Lilley, the Canada Politics Examiner, points out:

"Are both of these facilities part of Canada’s public health care system? Yes they are, we don’t have much choice here, there is one private hospital in all of Ontario, and even that is part of the public system."

"Does St. Peter’s or the JCC provide abortions? Not quite. The JCC provides cancer care, which includes chemotherapy and other cutting edge treatments, but not abortions. St. Peter’s is a mostly palliative care hospital focused on seniors and also does not provide abortions; most of the hospital’s clients are well past reproductive years."

Palin hasn't hid her views on Canadian health care. In fact, when approached recently at a book signing by a Canadian comedian pretending to be a conservative, Palin gave her opinion on Canadian health care:

"Keep the faith" Palin said, "because common sense conservatism can be plugged in there in Canada too. In fact, Canada needs to reform its health care system and let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed."

Organizers hope to sell 1,000 tickets at $200 a plate, but also plan on raising more via photos with Palin.

"It truly is a shame that some people can’t just leave Palin alone when she tries to do something to help others by raising money for hospitals in Hamilton," Lilley writes.  "When a woman like her is in such high demand she really could have gone anywhere, she has chosen to raise money for the sick and aged and that should be applauded.

Yesterday in the news, Palin was slammed by her critics for *supporting* President Obama's Nobel speech. There is nothing she can do to quell her critics, and I believe that she has stopped even trying.

Liberals despise her for being strong and capable. She has run a family, a city and a state. B-Ho ran a neighborhood organizing campaign. 'Nuff said.

The real story here is Canada's "free" government health care needs to have someone come in and fund raise!

George, I agree with you too. Sarah is not one who tries to "please" everyone anyhow. She does what she does because SHE thinks it's right.

Remember, this is the woman who said "Politically, if I die, I die, but I won't sit down, and I won't shut up! Screw political correctness."

That alone makes her a winner in my book!

Liberals despise her for being strong and capable? Where did that thought come from? Nothing could be further from the truth. Liberals, moderate and a huge majority of Republicans despise her because she is weak, incapable, and never would be in the position she is in unless John McCain had made a huge mistake by adding her to his ticket. The woman is a joke and will never go anywhere...except back to Alaska eventually. Then she can maybe read some newspapers. What a joke! She has run a family...hardly. A city. You call Wasilla a city and Alaska is a minor state at best. Come on now, she quit that job because she could make more money writing a book that only her supporters will waste time reading. She doesn't read so how can she write?

Sarah Palin has my vote. She has conviction! She is a conservative & states what she believes-popular or not. She is anti-abortion & chose to have her child knowing he would need life long support. She is anti-elitist & lets others see her as the every day person her & her family are-how honest is that? I met a military family from Alaska at a book signing in Colorado. They told me the story of how Sarah palin, not knowing them, heard about their daughter with brain cancer & sent them a hand written note stating her compassion and prayers for them. They brought the note & their family to meet her. They stated Sarah Palin's 80% approval rate was earned in Alaska because of her honest work for the people (constitution term?) and her sense of community. Notice the liberals can't knock her political record, so they do personal attacks on her & her family. She has handled it with grace. You can't lie, cheat, or buy that kind of history of who you are.
