On December 22, Sarah Palin armed herself with a pen and greeted at least 750 people who filled the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla. They had come to welcome their former Governor home and get their copy of "Going Rogue" autographed. But on Christmas, Sarah Palin armed herself with an apron and serving spoon to serve mashed potatoes and turkey to a long line of hungry visitors at the sports center.
Christmas is a time to focus on family, and help those in need. Even though Palin has been making national headlines and her memoir has spent five straight weeks on the NY Times Hardcover Bestsellers list, Palin made sure she took part in an annual Christmas tradition--the 18th annual Christmas Friendship Dinner.
The Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman reports that "there were no mobs of well-wishers, protesters or media. Many of the attendees were glad to see her and husband Todd participating in a hometown event, but said, at least on Christmas, Santa was the No. 1 celebrity at the sports center on Christmas."
Palin was among a small army of volunteers who helped cook and serve 63 turkeys, 60 hams, 600 pounds of potatoes, 50 gallons of gravy, 80 pounds of butter, dozens of large cans of beans and corn, and 600 pounds of carrots.
But Sarah Palin couldn't resist sending one important tweet on Christmas morning, “Merry Christmas morning from the Palins! Joy,peace,rest&increased faith for you&your family this season. Jesus is the Reason for the Season!”

Yea Merry Christmas. Now that the state has a lost it's illegal tanker tax and has a new tax per-head on cruise ship clients what are you going to do with the loss of 140k tourists and the cruise ships being redeployed elsewhere? Alaska enacted by voter approval a levy on interstate commerce and that is a no-no under our (lower 48) Constitution. If Alaska wants to succeed from the union, the three-legged economy based on Federal, Oil and 'other' revenues is bound to fail. The cruise ships are suing Alaska at last glance and shipped out.
What will the airlines do? I saw first hand consolidation of PenAir flights due to low numbers and it was screwed up because there was no advance notice. Some of those 'tourists' Alaskans despise fly back home from or to the Alaskan ports for a cruise. It is a pretty big ripple in a small pond. Last year's tourism was down as much as 75% with some businesses. And AK snowbird numbers going to the islands for a little sunshine are down too. Are you sure
