The return of forwards Joe Pavelski and Devin Setoguchi helped the San Jose Sharks continued their winning streak with a victory at home over the Nashville Predators.
Joe Pavelski returned in the 5-0 victory over Pittsburgh, where he posted his first goal and an assist. In his second returning game, versus the Predators, Pavelski scored again, bringing his scoring streak to two games in a row.
Devin Setoguchi returned from a lower body injury versus the Predators. Like Pavelski, Setoguchi scored in his returning game, wristing a shot that was redirected off of a Predators' stick and into the top shelf.
Pavs started off the scoring in the first period when he drove to the middle, received a beautiful pass from Patrick Marleau, and shot it into the net.
Nashville came right back when Michael Santorelli knocked in a shot by Martin Erat behind back-up goalie Thomas Greiss.
Jamie Mcginn added his third goal of the season with the fourth line early in the second period. His wrist shot beat Dan Ellis to put the Sharks up 2-1.
Former Shark Marcel Goc scored his first goal with the Predators in the second period when he wristed a shot from the circle, putting it top shelf and past Greiss.
Patric Hornqvist's tip-in in the third gave the Predators their first lead of the game. However, the Sharks would soon strike back.
Devin Setoguchi scored four minutes later to tie the game at three at seemed to send it into overtime.
Dan Boyle, however, would have none of that. Boyle carried the puck into the offensive zone and shot the puck into Ellis' pads and into the net with less than a minute left in the third. The Sharks would hold onto that lead to win the game.
Thomas Griess played admirably to secure his second victory of the season. Greiss made several key saves to keep the Sharks in the game.
The Sharks look to complete their perfect home stretch versus the Dallas Stars on Thursday, November 12.
