I might be looking too much into this, but then again, when anything happens, there always are little stories attached to it.
From what I am sure of, aren't private workouts for players that teams are really interested in? I don't know why the Jets and Colts would make the extra effort to take a look at Sanchez unless they have a real interest of drafting him.
Now, I am scratching my head on the Colts' decision to take a look at Sanchez. The team already has three-time MVP Peyton Manning under center and as far as I know, is pretty OK in the quarterback position.
Manning never really gets hurt and their backup, Jim Sorgi, has always done fine when Manning is on the bench. But clearly, Sanchez is an upgrade at the backup position. However, would the Colts try to trade up to get Sanchez? That's a hard one to understand when they already have a franchise quarterback.
The Jets actually make some more sense. With Brett Favre's retirement (and assuming that this one is for real), they only have two quarterbacks on the roster: Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff. The team could definitely use another quarterback, and Sanchez would be a great fit for them.
The Colts hold the 27th pick of the first round; the Jets have number 17.
With the 49ers sitting pretty at #10, it's quite obvious that they have a lot of options they can look at. But if they don't find someone they like so high up in the Draft, the idea of trading down could happen. The 49ers would probably be open to trade proposals on Draft day. If either of these teams are really interested in Sanchez, the 49ers could be willing to make a trade.
In recent years, the 49ers have not made any trades during the Draft. But if the Colts or Jets do make a trade with the 49ers for that #10 spot (a spot where most mock drafts are predicting Sanchez to get drafted in), the 49ers could make some high demands.
At least for the Jets, they seem to be in a bigger need for a quarterback. The Jets might give up its #17 pick and possibly another pick in a later round. So if the 49ers really have no interest Sanchez and the remaining players in the Top 10, then trading away that pick would be a smart move.
Nothing can be speculated right this until the 49ers announce that they are done with free agent signings. Then we know what the team might need. In fact, if the Jets or Colts are still talking on Draft day, then maybe that's when the 49ers could make that trade. We'll just see how this turns out.
Free agency notes:
- Safety Sean Jones has signed with the Eagles to fill in for Brian Dawkins' departure. I wanted Jones to sign with the 49ers, but it wasn't mean to be.
- DL Igor Olshansky signed with the Cowboys. Olshansky was a long shot to sign with the 49ers, but it would have been nice if he did.
- Niners Nation discusses newly signed DE Dementric Evans' impact to the team.
- Newly signed QB Damon Huard is comfortable with the offense.

Comments
I think trading down would be a good thing if we can get extra draft picks out of the deal. Since the 49ers have been notoriously tightwadded and timid in free agency this year, we have a lot of holes to fill!
