49ers will select at #13 and #17 in first round of Draft

The official coin flip to determine the first round draft order has been made the 49ers are now going to be drafting at #13 and #17.

The 49ers received the #13 pick with their 8-8 finish in 2009. The second pick came courtesy of a trade made last year between the 49ers and Carolina Panthers. Since the Panthers and Tennessee Titans finished with the same record, a coin flip was made to determine which of those teams would get the #16 spot.

The Titans won the toss and will pick at #16 while the the 49ers will take the #17 pick from Carolina.

This isn't too much of a disadvantage for the 49ers being one pick lower. The 49ers are seeking an offensive lineman, returnman or a secondary player in the first round. The Titans are seeking help at other positions.

The 49ers will draft at #16 in the second round and alternate between #16 and #17 in the following rounds. *My mistake. The 49ers do not alternate those picks.

Here is the official list of the first round order. The first round will start on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 PM ET with the second and third rounds on Friday, April 23 at 6:00 PM ET followed by rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 AM ET.

The only concern is it opens up one more spot where a team can trade up and potentially steal a player from us. But hopefully it doesn't hurt us, and it will save us a little money.

Since the draft is OLine heavy, the 49ers can afford to draft a secondary player or even CJ Spiller at #13 and save #17 for a lineman

Watch for a team to move up and take CJ Spiller. He is very much a runner with a skill set very similar to that of Chris Johnson ("CJ") and Spiller will be able to make an impact right away, in the NFL.

Spiller may well be the best running back to enter the draft in a few years and would be a nice change of pace back for Gore and be an effective replacement for the inept Coffee.

The 49ers will take a strong look at Spiller as well as a superior defensive back.

I agree, if Spiller is there I hope we take him. Gore laid down a few times last season and that hurt this team.

    Hi Guys,
Do you guys remember when Vernon Davis got sent to detention during a game followed by coach Mike going in at half time and screaming to get his team's attention. When he asked if anyone had a question to raise their hand. The team was still naughty and kept talking. The next thing Singletary did was an instant classic.

Coach Mike jumped up on a training table and whistled really loudly then dropped his pants and pulled down his underwear and exposed his privates to his unruly team. Well the team immediately hushed and the players got scared (except for the gay players) as the large man with his amazing girth started to swing from side0to0side wildly and yelling at his team telling them from now own to raise their hands when they want to speak.

Coach Mike took his stunned team back on the field after buying every player a hotdog, soda and snicker doodle while patting them on the back telling them all he loved them.

Coach finally pulled up his pants midway thru

yes Smiley, I heard about that and saw the coach on the sideline with himself showing. But, you one thing, Vernon Davis went on to an all-pro season after the coach had his way with Davis.

What you mean Mr. Smilery, when say have he way? Did the coach hit the player? Did Mr. Davis quit that game? have you some photo of this 2nd half? What coach look like naked? He big man or little? Is he single?

I too think JC Splls be the best player the 49 dan take from the draft man day, when they sell the players rights.

We used to does a similar thing in Vietnam with the best kids who work the rice field really fast. The worst family grower from last plant season got to pick the best young grower the following year. Then of course, the most productive family get the last choice of rice tender, sometimes a girl or slow boy or maybe boy with no arm or with one leg off from land mine left hiding in mud. A lot of time the worst rice tender who was picked last wind up to hurt his new host family production and put them in position to starve but it would mean they get to pick one of best rice grower next grow season. That is collective farm draft. That was great about my cou

taking a tackle at 17 is the right place to take him. the draft is deep at the position and that leaves us with an explosive play maker at 13. who it will be will change between now and april but i think graham will be a very nice second round pick.

The 49ers won't be drafting 16th in the second round nor alternating between the 16th and 17th picks in the subsequent rounds. This was Carolina's pick. They will be picking 16th in the second round. The 49ers will be picking 13th in the second round.
