Jahi Word-Daniels was one of the five players the 49ers cut on Sunday.
(Samuel Lam)
The 49ers didn't wait until Tuesday's deadline to cut five players from their roster. On Sunday, the 49ers cut ties with five players to set their roster at 75 players. These were the five that were cut.
- CB Carlos Thomas
- CB Jahi Word-Daniels
- K Alex Romero
- WR Chris Francies
- WR Mark Bradford (recap from Stanford Cardinal Examiner)
There isn't much surprise for these five players. Maybe the only one that I thought would last until the next cut was Carlos Thomas. He has played pretty well (especially with his play in the game against Oakland).
Bradford and Francies were just victims of the numbers game. Both had little opportunities to make impacts during the preseason. And there was no way Romero was going to take Nedney's job as kicker.
The 49ers resume to the practice field on Monday.
