The 49ers are still in the hunt for either the NFC West division title or a spot in the Wild Card. And out of all the teams in the NFC that are in the Wild Card hunt, the 49ers have the easiest schedule. Here is a look at the team's fighting for the Wild Card spots:
Dallas (8-3)
- at NY Giants (6-5)
- San Diego (8-3)
- at New Orleans (10-0)
- at Washington (3-8)
- Philadelphia (7-4)
- Combined record: 34-20
Philadelphia (7-4)
- at Atlanta (6-5)
- at NY Giants (6-5)
- San Francisco (5-6)
- Denver (7-4)
- at Dallas (8-3)
- Combined record: 32-23
New York Giants (6-5)
- Dallas (8-3)
- Philadelphia (7-4)
- at Washington (3-8)
- Carolina (4-7)
- at Minnesota (10-1)
- Combined record: 32-23
Green Bay (7-4)
- Baltimore (6-5)
- at Chicago (4-7)
- at Pittsburgh (6-5)
- Seattle (4-7)
- at Arizona (7-4)
- Combined record: (27-28)
Atlanta (6-5)
- Philadelphia (7-4)
- New Orleans (10-0)
- at NY Jets (5-6)
- Buffalo (4-7)
- at Tampa Bay (1-10)
- Combined record: 27-27
San Francisco (5-6)
- at Seattle (4-7)
- Arizona (7-4)
- at Philadelphia (7-4)
- Detroit (2-9)
- at St Louis (1-10)
- Combined record: 21-34
The 49ers have three winnable games remaining on their schedules: Seattle, Detroit and St. Louis. The game against the Cardinals might be the biggest game for the 49ers. If the 49ers go 4-1 (with one of the wins against the Cardinals), the team will finish with a 9-7 record. That might not be enough to secure a Wild Card spot. Philadelphia, Dallas and Green Bay are three teams that I think will finish with a better record.
However, the division title is still a possibility. A win for the 49ers this Sunday combined with a Cardinals loss sets up their Monday Night matchup as a battle for first place in the NFC West. And even though the Cardinals will also face the Rams and Lions, they have the tough games against the Vikings and Green Bay. With the status of quarterback Kurt Warner up in the air, the Cardinals aren't as strong as they were earlier in the season.
Head coach Mike Singletary said that the team's future is right in front of them. All these remaining games for the team are very winnable and a 10-6 finish for the 49ers is very possible. The schedule favors it, but can the 49ers achieve it?

I don't know how you figured this. The Niners were gonna have to win every game, including tough ones over the Cards and Eagles. You would lose the tiebreak vs. the Packers and Falcons. That made it like climbing Mt. D'Nali; now it's Everest.
