
Every two years, the International Association of Athletics Federations stages a World Track & Field Championships which represents essentially the same level of athletic competition as the Track & Field portion of the Olympic Games. The IAAF World Championships began in 1983, and were presented every 4 years, until 1991 when the frequency became every two years. The 12th presentation of these World Championships were held in Berlin, Germany this year, from August 15-23.
