The brilliant sunrise along the beautiful Long Branch ocean front foretold what was to be an equally brilliant morning of running at the CPC Pier House 5k. The event attracted a huge crowd and they were not disappointed with the weather or the course. The event was also the conclusion of the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix and for many participants it was the last race to garner points toward series awards.
The race started out under perfect conditions with a bright sunny sky and as the race wore on the temperature did rise a bit making the last mile a bit of a challenge. The race started on the very north end of the Long Branch Promenade and made its way south through Pier Village and then a return north toward the start and a final turn toward the finish line by the great lawn on the west side of the promenade.

Something strange about the chip times. I was a bit back (and therefore a number of seconds back) from the starting line, yet results show my clock & chip times asthe same. How can that be?
