The revitalized Long Branch beachfront will be the site of the 7th Annual CPC Pier House 5K road race on Labor Day Monday, September 6th. Racetime is 8:30 am. One goal of the race is to bring runners to Long Branch to witness first hand the amazing growth in that area. We expect over 1,000 participants to lace up their shoes for the event.
"The Pier House believes deeply in strong community relationships and this is just one indication of that", said co-race founder Tim McLoone, whose restaurant was one of the first projects opened in Pier Village. Proceeds of the race will be donated to the CPC Behavioral Healthcare.
CPC Behavioral Healthcare, founded in 1960, is a leader in providing behavioral healthcare, addiction recovery, special education, residential services, and Employee Assistance Programs from one integrated source. The agency provides clinical, psychiatric and special education to clients, students and consumers. CPC’s extensive services helped over 6,500 individuals from Monmouth County and the surrounding area. For more information, visit www.cpcbehavioral.org and www.highpointschool.org.
As the concluding race of the Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix, prize money will be awarded to the top open and age group finishers. A commemorative gift will be presented to every runner who finished all five grand prix races - the Spring Lake 5, the Sheehan Classic, the Belmar 5, the Asbury Park 5K, and, of course, the CPC Pier House 5K. After the first four races Dactilia Booth of Long Branch leads the overall women’s division. and the overall men’s division is a race between Reinaldo Reyes of Maple Shade, NJ and James Gathoga of Kenyan and will be determined at the Pier House race.
Again this year will again feature the addition of kids’ races following the main event on Monday on the Great Lawn of Long Branch with various distances for children ranging from ages 1 to 12 and all kids will receive a commemorative medal.
"The day will be a festive one with music, prizes, and refreshments for all the participants", continued McLoone. "We hope lots of runners will conclude their summer seasons in Long Branch."
