Not running the 2009 New York City Marathon next week, but still looking for a unique way to get involved with one of the most well-known and well-loved marathons in the world?  

Each year, the New York City Marathon attracts thousands of athletes and spectators from around the world to New York City.  The event is a huge undertaking for not only the New York Road Runners and official sponsors of the event, but also for the city of New York who wants to welcome its guests in the best way possible. Consider volunteering and play a crucial role in the success of this event.

Volunteers are needed for the following roles throughout the course of the event weekend: 

*Pre-Race: Exposition and Barilla Marathon Eve Dinner
*Start Area: Baggage Support, Food Court, and Start Corral Monitor
*Course: Course Marshal and Aid Stations
*Finish Area: Baggage Support, Medal Distribution, Food Distribution
*Transportation Area: Bus Loading and Staten Island Ferry Loading
*Medical: Assist at Medical Stations (medical background not required)

Please note that volunteering for the New York City Marathon with NYRR does not count toward the 9+1 guaranteed entry program for the 2010 Marathon.
