2009 New York City Marathon: Marathon course route

The course of the ING New York City Marathon traverses all five boroughs that make up New York City.  For local runners, the marathon is a symbol of pride and familiarity as they run through their borough, their community, their city.  For runners who come to the Big Apple from all 50 states and more than 100 countries around the world, it is a unique tour of the diversity and variety that makes New York City one of a kind.

Runners begin in Staten Island, cross the Verrazano Bridge into Brooklyn, then Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and back to Manhattan for the famous finish line at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. Zoom in on the map below to check out the course map that outlines for both runners and spectators the route that the New York City Marathon follows.
