675 Massachusetts runners complete 2009 New York Marathon

Of the record 42,000+ runners in Sunday's 2009 ING New York City Marathon, 675 Massachusetts residents showed up in the official NYC Marathon results.

The top Massachusetts male in the November 1st race was Pete Rooney with a notable time of 2:20:34. The top female Massachusetts runner was Jamison Lower in 3:03:03. Both runners easily qualified for the 2010 Boston Marathon in April with their times in NYC.

American Meb Keflezighi won the race in a personal best of 2:09:15 and Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia took the women's title also in a personal best 2:28:52. Keflezighi's win was the first American NYC Marathon win since Alberto Salazar in 1982, and Tulu's performance was the first New York win for Ethiopia.
