The TransRockies Run is a two-man six-day stage run through the Rocky Mountains. Two of our very own runners from Baltimore will be attempting this race on August 22nd.  Ultra-marathoner Thomas Neuberger and six-time IronMan finisher Juda McGannon are both fit and experienced athletes, but can they endure 113 miles of thin atmosphere, rough terrain, and elemental uncertainties in America's largest mountain range? (see slideshow)

To add to their amazing journey and give inspiration and meaning, Neuberger and McGannon are raising funds for the Baltimore Child Abuse Center (BCAC). "We wanted to help an underfunded local charity. We also wanted to make sure our fundraising efforts would go towards helping not towards administrative costs. It's important to us to give back to the people of Baltimore," says Neuberger.

"I am excited to be able to do what I love, while at the same time bring awareness and funds to the BCAC. Sexual child abuse is such a sensitive topic, but unfortunately something that too many children experience. I am happy to help a local Baltimore organization which provides comprehensive care and services to these children," said McGannon.

The two experienced athletes hope to raise $11,000 for the BCAC. To donate to their cause click here or visit www.believeintherun.com to learn more about this event and their cause.

More about their journey:

Thomas and Juda must stay within two minutes of each other.  This ensures a team effort as well as a safety measure. The 200 teams of this event will begin their journey in Buena Vista, CO and transverse through the heart of the White River and San Isobel National Forest ending in Beaver Bank. Runners can expect to experience a 25,000 elevation gain along the course. All teams will camp together at various 'camp cities' where they will receive hot showers, food, and shelter. The entire course is supported by the Gore-Tex Event Team. Below is a radio interview with Thomas Neuberger on 105.7 talking about this event and his fundraising. (see slideshow)
