The 6th annual Shamrock Shuffle in Madison kicked off this morning at 10:00 AM on State Street. This race had an air of playfulness as most participants and spectators dressed up in festive Irish costumes. The race offered 5k and 10k courses. All race profits went to The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.
The course was an out and back route that started and ended on the infamous State Street, and followed the serene paths lining Lake Mendota.
The 5k top male finisher was Kurt Wagner finishing in 15 minutes and 56 seconds. Top female 5k finisher was Jenna Mitchler finishing in 18 minutes flat. Top male and female finishers for the 10k were Timothy Wilcox in 34 minutes and 5 seconds, and Jackie Arndt in 41 minutes and 7 seconds.
Races are a great way to donate to local organizations, and to start a training plan to get in shape for the summer. The next race in the southeastern Wisconsin area is the Trailbreaker marathon, half marathon, and 5k run/walk on Saturday, March 27th. Proceeds from the race go to The Park Foundation of Waukesha, Inc. To sign up or get more information click here.
