That's right. Mark the calendar for December 13, 2009. The 30K is the last big race of the HARRA Houston Marathon Warm-Up Series. Finish Line Sports is the proud sponser of this event so no worries about race management. Race day registration is $65.
The Weather Channel forecasts a crisp 51 degrees for the start and a partly sunny day, so unless things change, conditions will be perfect for the event. PRs all around. For runners following the marathon training plan, a 30K (18.6 miles) dovetails perfectly into the schedule, as it should.
The 2009 Chevron Jingle Bell Run & Walk will also happen on Sunday, but it will kick off at 2:00 in the afternoon so it makes for a great spectator event. This annual run has more of a family flavor than the 30K's long distance thrill. There's always runners dressed "interestingly," for lack of a better term. This event is taking place in downtown Houston and HARRA estimates a turnout of 5,000 runners and walkers. No bah, humbug in Texas!
For either event, remember to get plenty of rest and hydrate well.
