The 30K, the last event in the 2009 Houston Marathon Warm-Up series of road races, turned out to be foggy but cool. The course consisted of an approximate 2 mile beginning leg, 3 loops, and then a return to home base; all hard, unforgiving concrete for runners in racing flats.
The overall female winner was Adrienne Langelier with a time of 2:00:55. The male winner was Ryan Smith who crossed the line at an impressive 1:49:17, an astounding pace of 5:53.
This race is typically very popular among runners training for the Houston Marathon, which is slated for January 17, 2010. The marathon itself is part of the HARRA Fall Race Series. The Warm-Up series itself consisted of the 20K, 25K, and the 30K. See race pictures of the 30K and these events.
Oddly, the Jingle Bell run was also held on Sunday, although in the afternoon. It's a mystery why these two races are held on the same day.
