Austin Runner's Club (ARC) Sprint Series is going on now. There is no extra cost to participating in the Sprint Series other than the registration paid for each individual race. For those of you who did not race in either the Cap 10k or the Texas Round up this past weekend, you will have to wait until next year because in order to be eligible to compete in the series, you must complete two 5ks and two 10ks at the following races:
- Cap 10k 04/11/10 View results
- Texas Round-up 5k/10k 04/24/10 View results
- Chuy's Hot to Trot 5k 05/08/10 Register Here
- Daisy 5k 05/16/10 Register Here
ACR sorts through the race results and adds up each series competitor’s chip times for two 5ks and two 10ks. The first two have already taken place. So far in the men's standings the leaders are:
- Ashish Patel
- Rich Warner
- Chris Griger
- Eric Marr
- Michael Budde
In the women's standings the leaders are:
- Liz Shelton
- Cindy Connolly
- Kelly Simmons
- Jennifer Stewart
- Valerie Hunt
Ashish Patel has about a 3 1/2 minute lead on number 2, Rich Warner, and Warner has about half that time lead on number three, Chris Griger. Liz Shelton has about a 6 minute lead on the rest of the lead pack but the next six women's times are pretty close together. We shall see how this series unfolds.
This is only the mid-point in the series so the title is still for the conquiering for these men and women. The next race in the series is Chuy's Hot to Trot 5k on May 8th. More information can be found at the ARC website.
Whether you are competing to win your age group or just beat last year's time, go out there and have some fun in the sun. Look around at at all the people that are competing with you. They all have a milllion things on their plate and problems to deal with but for those precious minutes that you are all out there you have only one thing on your TO-DO list, and that is TO FINISH! Think about these words when you get to the start: "Once a task has begun, never quit till it's done, be that labor great or small, do it well or not at all!"
