The Tarman Zombie Cocktail, rum to die for

In the movies, Zombies are the living dead. In the world of great cocktails, Zombies are classic rum libations.

In the cult classic film Return Of The Living Dead, the first zombie you meet is stuck in a barrel, completely covered in a dark, icky substance, and is explained to be a left over from a very real Army experiment. Once released from his barrel, “Tarman” as he is affectionately referred to, stumbles after a girl, uses a pulley system to open a locker she hides in, grabs and kills a punk with a shaved head and screams wide-eyed about “MORE BRAINS” upon being hit with a bucket.

In honor of this noble celluloid soul of darkness, the Cane Spirit Guide devised a special dark rum cocktail as an homage to this classic character. The Tarman Zombie is a mixture of deep dark rums, overproof rum, banana flavored dark rum and a few accompaniments.

The Tarman Zombie

1 oz Coruba Dark Rum (info)
1 oz Gosling’s Black Seal, 151 proof (info)
1 oz Maui Dark (info)
1 oz Ron Ricardo Banana (info)
.5 oz Key Lime Sour Mix (see below)
.5 oz John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum (info)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
cinnamon stick

Add ingredients and ice to your favorite shaker and flail widly as though it were on fire. Pour over crushed ice in your favorite collins glass or tiki mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick (or a small pinch of cinnamon if you don’t have a stick).

So, grab a couple of friends, throw on your favorite zombie flick and give this ghoul a try. The Tarman’s just dying to get in your good favor.
