More than 100 fine rums from around the globe participated in the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival held at the Raleigh South Beach Resort recently. Now the results of the International Rum Tasting Panel competition have been announced.

The judges, collectively know as the International Rum Expert Panel, include notable masters of rum, authors, mixologists, collectors, journalists, consultants, lecturers and cane spirit ambassadors.
The members include Ian Burrell, Dave Broom and Paul McFadyen of England, Jurgen Deibel and Dirk Becker of Germany and Rene Van Hoven of Amsterdam, Robert A Burr, Juan del Busto and Robert V. Burr of Miami, Bill Dowd, Chris Carlsson, Ian Williams and Joe Desmond of New York, Martin Cate, Dave Russell, Matt Robold, Forrest Cokley and Blair Reynolds of California, Wayne Curtis of New Orleans, Mike Streeter of Key West, Jim Ducharme of Puerto Rico, Bob Davies of the Turks And Caicos Islands, Roger Patteson of Oregon, Adam Kanter of Philadelphia, Tatu Karlaas of Australia, Hank Koestner of Orlando, and Paul Artrip of Virginia.
Each is experienced at evaluating rum products in a blind tasting environment for international competitions. Each of their scores is averaged to compute the final results for the awards.
Twenty four members of the group met in Miami recently to host their event at the Delano Resort's famed Florida Room, well known by cocktail enthusiasts and spirit connoisseurs as a world-class venue on Miami's fabled South Beach.
Over the course of two days, the RumXP judges tasted and scored more than 80 fine spirits in eight major categories. Here are their results.
