The rums used to make XM Royal Gold are first aged to perfection in bourbon casks for over 10 years before being subject to a demanding selection process for blending. Once blended, the rum is then filled into Sherry wine casks for a further 6 months of maturing before bottling.

The rich, full-bodied blend offers aromas of Demerara sugar, citrus, banana, caramel, ginger and pancake syrup. The tastes of orange, vanilla, toffee, honey and banana lend to a tropical experience. The long, warm finish delivers a bit of spiciness and sweetness which lingers softly on the palate.

Enjoyed in a snifter, Banks DIH XM 10 suggests a complexity of brandy with rich viscosity. On the rocks, the flavors open to reveal more vanilla and toffee tones. Used in a premium cocktail, the XM 10 delivers the full flavored characteristics that make the Demerara region rums popular among rum aficionados.

The D'Aguiar Family has been in business in Guyana for over 150 years and have been making fine Guyanese rums since the 1840s when Jose Gomes D'Aguiar, the founder of the company started the rum business. The Banks DIH name traces back to the Demerara Ice House, which contained a hotel, a bar and a soft drinks plant. The D'Aguiar Brothers purchased the building in 1896.

Over the years the company's rums have been awarded many accolades including three outstanding awards at the International Wine and Spirits Competition for its ten year old rum and XM VXO, a double gold medal and a bronze award respectively.

The Banks DIH rums are available throughout the Caribbean, in the UK, Italy, Spain and France, and soon, the American market.
