Rugby Colorado held its largest TRY(Touch, Tackle Rugby Youth) League State Championships in the organization’s twenty-six year history with over four hundred players ranging from five years old to seventeen competing in eight divisions.
Saturday’s tournament capped six weeks of TRY Jamborees and crowned this year’s eight champions. This year’s winners included Westside, Ranch Rugby, the Denver Lions, Glendale Raptors, and Cherry Creek.
The TRY League’s eight divisions are comprised of two coed touch divisions, four boys tackle divisions, and two girls tackle divisions.

Rugby Colorado's TRY League plays a variant of the fifteen-player Rugby Union version of the game more closely resembling the seven-player version of the game adopted by the Olympic Committee when rugby returns to the Summer Olympic family at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Teams compete in two fourteen minute halves with a two minute half time.
In addition to the Try League, Rugby Colorado sponsors Rugby at the high school level for both Girls and Boys.
The high school girls season begins in the fall and concludes with the State Championships during the first week of November. The Boys high school rugby season kicks off in early March and wraps up with the State championships in May.
