As St Louis was pressing, a yellow card gave the Royals a man advantage, but St. Louis was unable to capitalize, and the half ended with OMBAC leading 11-9.
Despite a yellow card four minutes into the second half that once again left them a man short, OMBAC managed to extend their lead by five. St Louis responded four minutes later with a try (unconverted), but a pair of tries late in the half locked in a 28-14 win for OMBAC.
The win gave the club from San Diego its first Division III National Championship, but OMBAC is no stranger to titles. OMBAC won the Division I National Championship in 1996 and a Rugby Super League Championship in 2006. OMBAC also has seen success in sevens competition with three consecutive sevens titles from 2000-2002.
