So far as anyone can tell, the world's first gamemaster's conference was held in Tucson a few weeks ago, sponsored by the Southern Arizona Gamers Association (SAGA). The whole afternoon was about tips and tricks for being a better gamemaster. Your truly was a presenter, along with Don Dehm and Derek Rex of Pulp Gamer, Ron Blessing of The Game's The Thing, Dave Martin of the Wrecking Crew, Tucson's Best Gamemaster Jason Corley, and Thomas Deeney (the President of SAGA). The keynote speaker was John Wick of Play Dirty, Houses of the Blooded, Legend of the Five Rings, 7th Sea, and other RPG fame.A lot of excellent information was exchanged, and everyone found it useful and informative.
Episode 081 of the Pulp Gamer Media Network's Out of Character podcast has just been released, and Don, Derek, Ron, Jason and I discuss the conference and review some of the learnings we took away. Definitely worth a listen if you're interested in becoming a better gamemaster.
