After a lengthy evaluation, Wizards of the Coast has decided not to renew the Star Wars license with Lucasfilm.

Wizards cited the economic downturn as one of the reasons to discontinue the Star Wars lines. The license officially ends in May this year, with WotC product available through August. Wizards will continue to support the Star Wars forums on the Wizards Community site and pointed out that there are more releases in the interim, including the Dark Times minis, the Galaxy of Intrigue RPG accessory, Masters of the Force minis in April, and The Unknown Regions RPG accessory in April.

"It’s been a fantastic ride with the Star Wars community and working with Lucasfilm," said Greg Yahn, director of marketing at Wizards of the Coast. "We hope you enjoy the next several months of great products. You never know when we may circle back again!"
