When is a protest not a protest? When it’s led by a marketing agency.
Joystiq confirmed that the protest of EA’s new game, Dante’s Inferno outside of the entrance to the South Hall at the LA Convention Center was staged. Featuring witty signs such as "Cheat codes won't save your soul" and "My high score is in Heaven,” the protesters handed out flyers that linked to http://wearesavedgroup.org.
The group claimed to be protesting the third-person action game — loosely based on Dante Aligheri's poem "Divine Comedy" — because they said the game glorified eternal damnation.
Is this in bad taste or clever marketing?

Good marketing. It raised my awareness of the product.
Interesting. I didn't find it offensive either, but I can see how some people might. Nobody likes to be cast as the villain, even in parody (or especially as parody).
