As reported here months ago, Princess Grace received a posthumous award from The Rodeo Drive Walk of Style as a style legend. Receiving an award as well at the October 22nd ceremony was the legendary jeweler Cartier. HSH Prince Albert, Princess Grace’s son, was on hand to receive the award for his late mother. The ceremony was held outside, which was a deviation from years past and made it a bit more intimate. The Prince accepted the award after a couple of video montages of famous movie scenes featuring Cartier pieces and a look at Kelly's life as an actress and princess. He stated that 'at heart, my mother was an artist,” which clearly bonded the Prince with the viewing audience.
Following the ceremony, there was a cocktail reception that benefited the Princess Grace Foundation-USA and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2006 to continue Monaco’s legacy to conserve and preserve the world’s natural environment and resources. Actress Debra Messing presented the award stating "You can't think of fashion as we know it without thinking of Princess Grace. She is glamour. She is Hollywood. She's modern, elegant, sophisticated, and graceful, no pun intended. She really defined a whole era."
