The Crown Princely couple of Denmark
Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has managed to quit smoking, he revealed in a recent interview. The Prince’s addiction runs in the family as his mother, father, and brother are all known to smoke. In the interview he stated that “It was my wife’s fault, reinforced by the fact that I wanted to quit, but thought it was too difficult. With her position of ‘no smoking’ was much easier.” The Prince is the father to two young children, which clearly advanced his urgency to kick the habit. “It’s also nice that our house does not smell like smoke. We had children quite quickly and I was not here to change diapers with nicotine fingers,” he said. Congratulations to the Prince on a healthy move.

The Swedish royals attending ceremonies
This week brought the 200th anniversary of the last military battle on Swedish soil. The battle was between Russian and Sweden over the territory now known as the country of Finland. Russian won the battle and essentially split Sweden into two pieces. The anniversary has been marked by a number of events in northern Sweden attended by the King, Queen, and Crown Princess, and for the first time, Russian diplomats. The events include battle reenactments, dinners and a memorial service. "For us, the last Russian-Swedish war is the beginning of 200 years of peace and neutrality," said King Carl XVI Gustaf, explaining the importance of the events. Upon arrival in Ratan, the royal family was been greeted by crowds of people. They walked around and said hello to many of them, the Crown Princess in particular stopping to talk to a number of children. In a more humorous moment later in the festivities, the family was posing for photos before a crowd of people and the King moved to walk away. Crown Princess Victoria gently said “Dad! Everyone hasn’t got their pictures.” King Carl XVI Gustaf quickly returned to have more photos taken.

The british royals clean up much better when in public. Their outfits hardly seem fitting for royalty.
