Prince Frederik continues work on climate change

HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was at the UN Global Impact meeting in New York this week. This meeting is serving as a predecessor to the upcoming climate change summit later this year which will take place in Denmark. The goal of the summit is to come up with a plan to replace the Kyoto Protocol which expires in 2012. His speech to the group was attended by the Danish Prime Minister who joined before speaking to the Security Council.

A few days ago on this same topic, Prince Frederik was on-hand to unveil the world’s largest offshore wind park in Denmark. This also was done to showcase the country’s focus on climate change before the summit. The 91-turbine Horns Rev 2 wind farm off in the North Sea will generate enough electricity for 200,000 Danish households. The previous holder of the title “world’s largest” also is in Denmark.

To promote the UN Climate Change Conference, Prince Frederik took to YouTube to encourage people to speak up. The video is below.
