Monaco royals celebrate Christmas

As is tradition in Monaco, the royal family invited the children of the tiny principality to the palace and personally handed out presents. TSH Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie were there as well as HRH Princess Caroline and her young daughter Princess Alexandra. This tradition goes back to 1956, in earlier years Princess Caroline’s older children have participated, this year was Alexandra’s first time. Also on the agenda for the holiday season they will also be visiting local hospital patients. It are events like these that allow Monaco’s royals to stay very connected to the principality’s citizens – it was often said that Prince Rainier, Albert’s father, knew each of the citizens by name.
