Welcome, Romance Lovers!
With me this morning is Romance author Bronwyn Green, whose wonderful books are available from Ellora's Cave, Cerridwen Press, Resplendence Publishing, and Total-E Bound Publishing.
Fran: I'm so excited to have you with me this morning! Please tell us a little about yourself.
Bronwyn: I write erotic romance for Ellora’s Cave, Total-e-bound, Cerridwen Press and now Resplendence Publishing. I’m married to an amazing man and we have two sons – 14 and 12. In addition to writing romance, I have two day jobs – childcare/tutoring (before and after school) and my other job involves a lot of time spent on the computer.
In my spare time (hahaha) besides reading, I love crafting of all kinds – my favorites are sewing, knitting, cross stitching, working with clay, card making, jewelry making and water color painting.
Fran: You really are a busy woman! I'm amazed you find the time to write, but you certainly do write...and write well! You have a new book out. We’d love to hear about it.
Bronwyn: My upcoming release is called Body of Art and it’s my first book with Resplendence Publishing and part of the Hot for Teacher collection. I have to admit, I’ve always been a fan of teachers or professors as heroes/heroines and I have a huge soft spot for artists and musicians, so this project is a dream come true for me.
Here’s a blurb for Body of Art – available May 19th, 2009 from Resplendence Publishing.
Art professor, Seth Granger, has two problems—an absentee life drawing model and a case of unrequited lust. Luckily his troubles have the same answer—his colleague, Dr. Callie Sullivan.
The trick will be getting her out of her clothes and into his studio…and hopefully into his bed. However, she's intent on keeping her mind on her art and ignoring him. Now he just needs to convince her she should be his body of art.
Fran: That sounds wonderful! I can hardly wait until May to read the rest! Now, as I mentioned before, I know that writers often have a problem finding the time to write with their busy lives. Can you tell us what your writing schedule looks like?
Bronwyn: My favorite time to write is at night, but because I have to be up at 5:15am, that doesn’t work out so well for me – lol. After getting my kids and myself ready and hubby up for work, I spend two hours getting six kids off to four different schools, come home, catch up on email and blogging then get to work on either writing or the day and switch back and forth for five hours until it’s time for another two hour drive to pick up the kids and get everybody started on their homework and any tutoring necessary. After the daycare kids leave, it’s time for supper, hanging with the fam and I usually try to squeeze in a little more writing before bed.
Fran: I suppose you need a quiet place to work Do you have a writer’s cave? Can we see a picture?
Bronwyn: I love my office, but I have to admit, I don’t use it much at all in the winter. We live in an old house and frankly, it’s as cold as a morgue in there! I also want to be available for my kids and daycare kids, so my second office is the couch in the living room. I spend lots of quality time in my cave in the summer though. It’s cluttered with lots of distractions, but it works for me.
Fran: So, what is your next project?
Bronwyn: I recently contracted another book with Resplendence Publishing for their Handcuffs and Lace line. It’s called Handcuffs and Lies.
Here’s a short blurb.
Sometimes promises to friends are the hardest to keep. Undercover police officer, Michael Tanner promised his dying partner that he’d take care of the man’s little sister. Trouble is, after her brother’s death, Doctor Tori Spinelli wants nothing to do with Michael—or any other cop, for that matter.
Tori has always fought against overprotective men and deception. Forced into protective custody with Michael, she’s now faced with both in the same package. Despite their differences, Tori falls in love with him, but how can she trust a man who lies for a living.
I’m also working on some adult fairy tales and the sequel to Overlord’s Vessel.
Fran: Oh, yes. I've read Overlord’s Vessel. Great book, by the way! You mind if I show the blurb and cover?
Bronwyn: No, I don't mind at all.
Blurb:
Overlord's Vessel
by Bronwyn Green
Elizabeth Louden has been chosen to provide Micah Bleddyn, the Overlord of Maelgwn, with an heir. However, she's not interested in the honor. In a land where only men are allowed to use magic, women found to possess supernatural abilities are punished - often by death. She knows it's only a matter of time before her secret is revealed.
Micah has no desire to rule his father's empire, but after his older brother vanishes, he has no choice. Faced with invading forces, treachery among his own people, and now, a mate hell-bent on escape, he's had enough. Realizing they have no allies but each other, Micah and Elizabeth reach a reluctant truce in their bid to stay alive and keep Maelgwn safe.
Fran: You have a number of wonderful books alredy out. mind if I show the readers some of your gorgeous covers?
Bronwyn: Feel free!
Fran: Do you have any special writing rituals? Like special music, times of the day, food quirks, etc?
Bronwyn: I definitely have writing quirks and most of them revolve around music and scent.
Fran: Really? Tell me more!
Bronwyn: Each book has its own soundtrack, although there are various artists and songs that appear on every soundtrack because they just speak to me so clearly about love and longing.
The must have songs are:
In the Sun by Joseph Arthur,
Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen covers) by either Rufus Wainwright or Jeff Buckley
Delicate by Damien Rice.
Collide by Howie Day
Ever the Same by Rob Thomas
Wonderwall (Oasis cover) by Ryan Adams
The must have artists/soundtracks are:
Damien Rice
Counting Crows
Kate Rusby
Melissa Etheridge
Loreena McKennitt
Oasis
Excalibur (soundtrack)
The Secret of Roan Inish (soundtrack)
The Mists of Avalon (soundtrack)
The Last of the Mohicans (soundtrack)
The Village (soundtrack)
