2008 Ellora's Cave
Gotta love those Gargoyles! Ms. Painter creates a world of fantastic, wonderful beings and brings them beautifully to life with a fine touch as we are swept along into a fantasy of steamy hot action and sensuous romance!
Finely-paired lovers and wonderful secondary characters are brought together with scintillating heat and wry humor as the reader is drawn in and held spellbound until the last page. A definite winner!

Book 1 in the Gargoyles Seduced series.
Jen Ormand vowed never to return home. Traumatized by visions of demons only she could see, followed by a spell in a psychiatric hospital, she's determined to create a new life away from her hometown's dark past — until her parents die.

When he sprouts wings and flies off into the night, Jen's sure she's suffering another psychotic break, especially since tall, dark and delicious makes her wet and hot for a lot more than rescuing.

Consumed by an uncontrollable lust for her, Garrett worries he's finally succumbed to the virus ravaging his species. Another Better Late Than Never Review...
by Jan Scarbrough
2008 - Resplendence Publishing
Ms. Scarbrough has skillfully drawn her characters with a knowing, loving hand - combining well-written, historically correct narration with breathtaking passion. Her narrative is smooth and her knowledge of the subject time period is outstanding. Her ability to draw readers into the mood and hold them captive for the duration made this one a cannot-put-down read for me. A completely delightful read! Well done, Jan!

At Edward's behest, he nourishes his reputation for savagery, taking as his badge the raven, a scavenger bird that feeds off rotting spoils. When her father and twin brother are murdered, Lady Catrin Fitzalen sets out to learn the truth about the awful rumors. Were they killed by the king’s own champion, the vicious King’s Raven? She will do anything to protect her remaining family, including switching places with her cousin when the king forces the pious girl into marriage with his wicked champion.

My captor tells me that I’m not a prisoner of war, but how else can I see myself? I was abducted and brought to an unknown location in the middle of the desert. I’m sequestered behind a locked door and bars cover my windows. I even have an armed guard who takes me for walks.
But he, the nameless captor responsible for my care, claims otherwise. He tells me that he’s not my enemy, that if he was, I’d already be dead. He promises to release me when the time is right. He says I’m safer now—with him—than I was before.
Despite his reassurances, I do not feel safe. Though he has treated me kindly, given me every comfort a prisoner could ever want or need, I have to find a way to leave—and soon. I don’t understand how it’s possible, but my captor knows me. He knows my past, he knows my secrets, knows just what to say to move me… and what to say to break me.
I have been taken by the enemy… and I must find a way to escape before I’m taken with him.
