Read an Ebook Week starts today

Read an E-book Week starts today and runs through March 14. Ebooks will never completely replace traditional printed books, but they offer a great option. Environmentally friendly, inexpensive, convenient, they come in all genres. Whether you read them on your computer, laptop, PDA, cell phone or dedicated ebook reader, why not try an ebook by a Houston area author this week? Here are a few that you might try.

Salvation Bride by Anna Kathryn Lanier
“The hot dusty town of Salvation, Texas has more than its share of secrets in 1873 when Laura Ashton’s stage rolls into town. Sheriff David Slade has no idea what baggage his mail-order bride is bringing into his life. Throw in the nightmares from his Civil War days and he’s got more than courting to contend with. Laura’s a woman ahead of her time, a woman trained in medicine. And she’s got a will that could move mountains. Unfortunately, the only mountains in Salvation are in Sheriff Slade’s memory. Can the determined doctor heal his pain, or will the dark secret in her past turn up to steal his Salvation Bride?”

Celestial Dragon by Ciara Gold
“When ZAN DANE, ruler of Pelicosia, finds ninety-five women for his men, he never dreams of finding his own mate. Exiled for daring to oppose the Burdven Empire, they have no women, no mates to regenerate their new kingdom and populate it with the sound of children until Zan Dane finds a way to travel across galaxies in search of prospective mates.
“CHELIAN KAR is Deliphit, an outcast with supernatural powers. Though she is the daughter of the High Chancellor of Kel, Satobik laws prohibit her from having physical contact with anyone. While other young women are mated to men chosen by their fathers, Chelian has no such hope until Zan Dane soars into her life. With an offer of zeel, a commodity most men would die for, Zan Dane convinces her father to allow the union. Will his journey lead him to a treasure richer than zeel?”

Fresh Start by Claire Sanders
“All Sara Robbins wants is a little independence and a chance to lick her wounds in peace.  But with her domineering mother breathing down her neck and the humiliation of being left at the altar, she’s certainly not going to get that in Texas.  What’s a girl to do but pack a bag and move to Montana for a fresh start?
She takes a job teaching in a one-room school on the McCurry Ranch and within a few hours of meeting rancher Daniel McCurry, sparks are flying.  Sparks that will lead to passion as the two of them find their way to true love.”

I support ebooks and so do all my publishers. As a reader I like the variety of authors availble. In the future I plan on buying an ereader.

It took me two years to finally decide on an ebookreader. I kept thinking, I write e-books, I should own one but I was confused on which to buy. I ended up buying the ebookwise reader and love it. So - yes, I'm now buying more e-books and less paperback. Especially when I travel because I can store up to 200 books on the device and carrying around one small reader is so much easier than lugging books everywhere.

As a fellow internet published author, I have the distinct pleasure of knowing and working with Anna K and Ciara. These two ladies know how to write, and whether you read their work on your computer screen or on a hand held device, you are in for a treat. These two are just an example of the talent yet to be tapped into by readers reluctant to try new authors.

No matter how you look at it ebooks are the wave of the future. We have people reading books on their cell phones. The youth of today carries technology with them. There will always be printed books, but maybe less of them.

Although I love reading print books, I realize e-books are the wave of the future. I do download short stories and read those on my computer, but eventually, I plan to buy an e-book reader.

I'm also an internet published author, as well as a print published author. I found the editing superior with e-books, the quality of the books as good or better than NY books, and love reading from my Sony reader. In fact, I enjoyed mine so much my husband bought an e-Bookwise reader. Now he's convinced this is the way to go. He takes it where ever he goes with his choice of books already loaded into his reader. By the way, we are both senior citizens and like the cost of e-books. Saves on the budget. Important in today's economy.

We are amazed at how many eBook folks are out there. We are finding about 100 new customers a day---it is amazing how this segment is picking up, faster than our music and games categories!
