Silicon Valley Killabytes victroious over the Undead Bettys

The Silicon Valley Roller Girls were on a roll on Saturday night when both of their teams beat their competitors in the double-header hosted at San Jose Skate. The Silicon Valley B team, the Killabytes, traded leads in a close first period against the Undead Bettys who were the visiting team from East Contra Costa County. At halftime the Killabytes were up, but not by much, with a score of 76 - 61. However, in the second period, the Killabytes stepped on the gas and won the game by a much bigger margin of 155 - 104.

Picking up more than half of the points for her team was Silicon Valley jammer Zootown Throwdown. The first year skater collected 84 points in 11 jams. Postal Servix scored 47 points in 12 jams and Cyntax scored 24 points in just eight jams. Juicy K. Tore took her turn as the jammer on three occasions but was held scoreless on her attempts.

The high scoring jammer for the Undead Bettys was Sew Evil who collected 45 points in 11 jams. Sgt. Bashin' Butter scored 21 points in six jams, thanks in part to a 15 point jam she scored in the first period. Me Hardee Yo Ho scored 20 points in just five jams before she was injured very early on in the second period. Angelina Rollie scored 14 points in four jams while Dirty Ann Rotten and Insta Gator both scored two points each in two jams. Wicked Pixie lined up to jam four times but was kept off the score board in each shift.

In this game, the total penalty count was about the same. Silicon Valley wracked up 60 minor penalties and 16 majors while the Undead Bettys collected 59 minor penalties and 13 majors. However, on the Dot.Kamikazes, the penalties were more spread out amongst the team. Juicy K. Tore and Postal Servix both sat in the box for four minutes each while Aim De Kill, Double Knucles DeVille, and Steffen Razor each sat for three minutes. On the Undead Betty's, veteran blocker Sgt. Bashin' Butter actually went to the penalty box eight times throughout the game. Insta Gator, a visiting skater from Santa Cruz, had the next highest total with three minutes in the box.

Both teams ended their 2009 season at the conclusion of Saturday's bout. The Killabytes won their first game at home for the year while the Undead Bettys lost their second game out of only three games since they began skating. Both teams will be taking a break until the 2010 season starts.
