The Southern Missfits used an overwhelming rally in the second half to defeat the Dirty Little Secret Service 93-68 Saturday night in Mesquite, Texas. In the second bout of the evening, Assassination City Roller Derby's Truth defeated ACRD's Lies, 73-59.

The home team Dirty Little Secret Service (DLSS) took a 4-3 lead by veteran jammer Red Hot Rage in the first jam. The team in blue would go on a 19-1 run starting in the sixth jam led by eight points from Red Hot Rage, and five points by both Small Block and Eileen Left. The 29-10 lead was followed by both teams trading scoring jams through the rest of the half. The home team went into intermission leading 49-32 to the delight of the Dallas area fans.

Bianca Bullet of the Southern Missfits indicated the visitors could get right back into the game as she scored a 4-0 jam in the second jam of the final period. A five-point jam by Heidi Hellcat and a four-point jam by Bulletproof Barbie moved the visitors to within 54-47 after the sixth jam.

The DLSS started turning the penalty box a shade of home team blue, as Assassination City team skated many jams with the maximum two blockers in the penalty box. That meant the team from Hattiesburg could begin an intense comeback.

Bulletproof Barbie scored an 8-0 jam in the eleventh jam in the final period to narrow the lead down to 60-56. Eileen Left scored her team's last eight points of the game during the next jam in an 8-8 exchange against the Southern Missfits' jammer Bianca Bullet.

The team from Mississippi took advantage of home team blocker penalties and a couple of major penalties to jammers in blue. The Southern Missfits scored the last 29 points of the bout. Two five point jams by Val Killmore, a five-point jam by Bulletproof Barbie, and a ten-point jam (the largest of the bout) also by Bulletproof Barbie would silence the crowd, except for a handful of fans from Mississippi. With a 25 point lead, Bianca Bullet would take the last lead jammer status for the South Mississippi team and call the jam off with the 93-68 score finalized on the scoreboard. The Southern Missfits had turned a halftime deficit into a strong victory by outscoring the Dirty Little Secret Service 59-17 in the second half.

The leading scorer for the Southern Missfits was Bullet Proof Barbie with 48 points. Other top scorers for the visitors included Bianca Bullet with 15 points, Heidi Hellcat with 11 points, and Val Killmore with 10 points. All individual scoring is unofficial. Top blockers for the team from Mississippi included Pissed-Off Pixie, Anthrax Angel, and Sawed-Off Shottie.

Top scorers for the home team included Red Hot Rage with 26 points, Eileen Left with 17 points, and Small Block with 13 points. Leading blockers for the team in blue were Claire Voyant, Obi 1 Nairobi, and Whoasilla the Killa, even though she was sidelined midway through the first half with a knee injury.

In the second bout, Assassination City travel team members divided up into two teams, along with some rookie league skaters. The Truth defeated the Lies 73-59. White team jammer Vann Rockin' would score the largest jam of the night with a 14-0 jam just before half to give her team a 44-27 lead at the intermission.

Hollywood Hitcha took lead jammer status time after time to help keep the bout under control for the team in white. A 13 point jam by Kernal Angus, followed by a nine point jam by Dixie Witch would help narrow the lead for the Lies to 70-59 late in the second half. But Hollywood Hitcha took lead jammer status, ran some time off the clock, and picked up a 3-0 advantage as it looked like the game clock would run out. However, the Lies called a timeout and one last potential two-minute jam had to be run. The Truth's Cra-C broke out of the pack with no time left on the clock and gained lead jammer status. She cut the jam off and the Truth had triumphed 73-59.

Leading scorers for the team in white was Vanna Rockin with 24 points. Hollywood Hitcha added 22 points, and Cra C chipped in with 14 points. Top blockers for the Truth were Sloan Gunman, and Calypso Crash.

Top scorers for the team in black were Kernal Angus with 22 points, Dixie Witch with 15 points; Smack the Ripper and Illegally Blonde each with 10 points. Top blockers included Pyro Maim Ya and Trigger Mortis.

Our girls have worked long and hard. I knew they were all very nervous about going to the "Big City", but I knew they were better than even they knew they were. God Bless the MISFITS, and thank you Texas for being so hospitable to my girls!!!!
