Voting day is finally upon us, which means the perfect opportunity to imbibe in the art of playlist creation, election style. Whether you wake up Wednesday morning feeling elated or devastated, you'll need a perfectly crafted set of songs to capitalize on the mood.
It's no secret that music has been a noteworthy part of this election. Senator John McCain notoriously met with resistance from quite a few musicians, including John Mellencamp, Foo Fighters and Heart, after attempting to use their songs as part of the soundtrack to his campaign. He wasn't left completely high and dry by the music community, though. The likes of Joe Perry from Aerosmith and Hank Williams, Jr. have voiced their support.
Unsurprisingly, musicians have been more supportive of Senator Barack Obama, with heavy hitters such as Bruce Springsteen, Bono and Stevie Wonder showing their support through song. Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" has become an anthem for the campaign, and along the way the singer even made up a little ditty to celebrate the Senator (see the final minute of this video).
Just as the candidates called on music to support their long, trying campaigns, you'll no doubt want a personal playlist to match your your post-election mood and help you wind down from the political insanity that has been Election '08 .
