New Queen DLC proves killer indeed

Harmonix has released the Downloadable Content for Rock Band for the week of Monday, October 19, and to say that it will rock you would be an understatement. The Queen pack - ten songs priced reasonably at 1280 Microsoft Points ($16.00) - is an experience worth investing in on any instrument. With a strong variety ranging from the piano ballad in "Somebody to Love", in which some of Rock Band's most difficult vocal riffs can be found, to the rather manic rock feel of "One Vision", this week's DLC has something to offer most fans of the series. Even the Bassist gets some lovin' this week, with the iconic and often-controversial bass riff in the Queen-David Bowie coop "Under Pressure".

It makes no difference what instrument you prefer to play, you'll have fun and be challenged in most if not all of the songs offered this week. Brian May has never really been looked at as a monster guitarist, but his solos are entertaining to listen to as well as play. Freddy Mercury's vocals are, as expected, extremely difficult, but also too fun to pass up for any vocalist. As mentioned, the bass player will have some fun, and the drummer will enjoy some rather unique rhythms that haven't been seen much thus far in the Rock Band repertoire.

It would have been great to see some of the more iconic Queen songs, like "We are the Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", but there's certainly enough in this pack to keep both fans and non-fans of Queen interested.

Here's the list of songs:

"Another One Bites the Dust"
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
"One Vision"
"Fat Bottomed Girls"
"I Want It All"
"I Want to Break Free"
"Killer Queen"
"Somebody to Love"
"Tie Your Mother Down"
"Under Pressure"
