You will not need to travel around the world to find great beer as the World Beer Festival returns to the Columbia, South Carolina convention center this on Saturday, January 28th.
Over 30 years ago, the only option of beer available to the American public was a light lager style. Frustrated with the lack of diversity in beer, individuals began to brew their own beer and today, U.S. cities are home to over 1,700 independent craft breweries. These brewers create a vast diversity of beer and last year produced nine million barrels of handcrafted beer for consumer consumption.
What will you taste?
The World Beer Festival will bring many of these brewers to Columbia, S.C., and patrons will see for themselves just how far beer has come. Indian Pale Ale, American Pilsner, Porter, Hefeweizen, Double Bock, Red Ale, Abbey Ale, Milk Stout, Barley Wine, Dunkelweizen, and many more will all be available for the tasting.
“Craft beer has developed into a strong subculture that is emerging into the mainstream,” said Daniel Bradford, Producer World Beer Festival. “With convenience stores and gas stations starting to include craft beer varieties in inventories, we realize beer diversity is here to stay.”
What it costs?
The festival offers two four-hour sessions. The first session will be from noon to 4 p.m. and the second session will be from 6 to 10 p.m. If you buy your tickets in advance, admission to a single session is $40, which includes beer samples, a festival beer guide, live music, educational sessions by industry experts and a festival tasting glass. Day of admission to the event will be $50.
Discounted tickets are available online at www.allaboutbeer.com/wbf .
